With the meetups, Spark Sustainability wants to address the need for personal guidance on adopting climate-smart habits and create a space for inspiring discussions.
Sparking Climate Action — the meetup is a new meetup concept by Spark Sustainability. The meetups are for everyone looking for ways to decrease their lifestyle emissions, wanting to understand the role of the individual in mitigating climate change, or simply wishing to discuss climate-smart lifestyles with others.
“We’ve noticed a strong need for the possibility to share experiences and ask questions about climate actions and emissions, face-to-face. That, and understanding what a difference our personal actions can actually make, is what Sparking Climate Action is all about”, Spark’s co-founder Anna Eriksson says.
The first meetup will be organised on February 24 at the Academic Bookstore in Helsinki. The participants will get an introduction to personal lifestyle emissions and get concrete tools to decrease their own emissions by 10% right there and then. There will be plenty of room for questions and discussions, and to make sure all participants have the knowledge to continue after the meetup, they will get a digital goodiebag to bring home.
Future meetups will focus on a specific theme, such as climate-smart pet ownership or drivers’ hacks. Spark Sustainability will invite experts from different areas to share their knowledge with the meetup participants.
